A doll in your pocket

For the past few months, I’ve felt called to create smaller dolls that can be easily carried in a pocket or bag and provide much needed support as we move through this time of deep unrest.

These pocket-sized dolls are inspired by the story of Vasilisa, whose journey to Baba Yaga’s hut is aided by the doll she carries in her pocket. She receives the doll from her mother, who is dying. Her mother instructs her to always carry the doll with her, to feed it when it is hungry, and to ask the doll for help when she is in need.

The doll serves as a guide - a connection to Vasilisa’s intuition. She feeds the doll as her mother instructed and, in return, the doll helps her to navigate the tasks Baba Yaga presents to her. (If you’re interested in reading more about Vasilisa and her doll, I highly recommend Women Who Run With the Wolves, by Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estés.)

Like Vasilisa’s doll, these tiny spirits can serve to strengthen your connection to your intuition and to remind you of the strength and wisdom you hold within. Each doll holds a single plant or animal medicine chosen for its ability to support and nourish during times of instability and change. These include motherwort (blue), rose (pink), nettle (green), hawthorn (red), and snakeskin (black).

{These dolls are now sold, thank you so much for your support!}
