The Solstice Grief Spirit is the final doll birthed over the Summer Solstice portal. She invites you to honor your grief, to let your tears fall and water the earth around you.
Western society tells us that we should hide our tears, be ashamed of them, that they serve no purpose to the broader social structure. This doll challenges this belief, instead recognizing our tears as necessary for growth and transformation. She knows that in order to be fully present in this life, we must be willing to make room for our grief - to live alongside it. We must learn to carry both the grief and the joy of life simultaneously. She whispers that in order to step fully into our gifts, we must give our tears room to breathe. We must allow our tears to fall and soak into the parched earth at our feet.
She says, “Watch. Be patient, and listen. See what beauty springs forth.”
This doll carries medicine for all grief, and is particularly aligned with the grief of the Earth. She honors the grief that comes from the loss of plant and animal kin, and brings deep ecological grief medicine. As her tears fall, the parched clay of the Earth cracks open and something beautiful emerges.
I formed her heart on the Taurus new moon and completed her in the days leading up to the new moon in Cancer. She carries the potent energies of Earth and Water, and is connected to the Queen of Cups and the High Priestess in the Tarot. She is deeply rooted in her own Intuitive wisdom, connected to the spirit realm, and able to see the wisdom and beauty of allowing the full, embodied expression of grief.
She has a heart of Blue Lotus & Herkimer Diamond, chosen to amplify her keeper’s connection to spirit allies, dreamwork, Ancestors, and Intuition. They can also provide nervous system support during times of deep grief.
Her dress is adorned with ferns and tears woven with a combination of Corriedale and Merino wool and tussah silk. Each fern holds a bell at its center. Her tears are woven with tussah silk.
