(Re)birth: Summer Solstice Spirit

Friends, I have been slowly, slowly working on a series of Solstice dolls and talismans. I shared the talismans in my last post; this is the first doll that carries the potent magick of the Summer Solstice… may she find you well.
Birthed over the Summer Solstice portal, this spirit doll carries the expansive energies that mark this season. She brings the potent wisdom of fire, creativity, intuition, death, and rebirth. She encourages you to be expansive, embodied, and unapologetic as you shed old stories and step into your fullness.
Her heart carries summer blossoms of calendula, chamomile, California poppy, and borage, all grown in my garden. I chose these medicines for their connection to the Sun, as well as their properties of healing and calming the nervous system, and allowing you to step forward into your gifts with greater confidence. This spirit invites you into a more embodied creative practice, welcomes you to connect more deeply to Spirit and the Ancestors, and helps you to find the courage to embrace your magic.
She is adorned with a rebirth portal surrounded by flames woven in tussah silk, recycled sari silk, and wool. A double-terminated quartz crystal sits at the center of the portal, amplifying the energies within.
This spirit is aligned with the Empress and the Queen of Wands from the Tarot. This is a very expansive, unapologetic energy that balances both the light and the shadow aspects of birth, growth, creativity, and magic.
The message: Remember that whatever wants to come through you will need space to grow. It will need food to sustain it. This energy reminds you to release what is ready to die and allow it to become the compost that will feed the seeds that you have planted. To pull the weeds that want to choke out new growth and keep your ideas from becoming all that they are meant to be. How will you open to your magic?
I began this doll on the new moon in Taurus and completed her in the days following the Capricorn full moon. She carries these potent energies, as well.
