Treasure boxes.

I am a big fan of using cigar boxes as portable altars and to store my many collections. I have several boxes to hold collections of found objects, like shells and bones. Others, like this one, house talismans that I’ve crafted or that I’ve received from other artists.

Something about seeing them together like this feels deeply satisfying to me. Tucked in alongside the talismans and doll* above are a clear quartz wand, a piece of black tourmaline, a stone that I found after a winter solstice ritual last year (and that reminds me of a solar eclipse), and a tiny box, intricately carved and filled with sacred medicines.
